Grades K-8

When is Registration?

Late August to early-September

Early November through Late November

When are Tryouts?

Mid-September to mid October

  • Two 90-minute sessions per grade/gender
  • Players are expected to attend both sessions
  • Sessions held two different days of the week and during two different time slots to minimize chance of anyone having conflicts with both

There are no tryouts for the Intown Program - all registered participants are placed on balanced teams for their grade/gender.

When are Teams Formed?

On a rolling basis as each grade/gender completes their final tryout session, so it ranges from late September to late October

K-2 do not have formal teams.  Grades 3-8 create teams after players are evaluated in the first two sessions, so that coordinators can create evenly balanced teams.

When Do Practices/Sessions  Start?

The first week of November, but typically only 1 practice per week until Fall sports conclude.

At that point, teams change to two practices per week with schedule coordinated by coaches based on overall team availability.

Early December, always on Saturdays.

Total of twelve 90-minute sessions per grade/gender group.

When Do Games Start?

The first or second weekend in December

Metrowest League plays games (and ALL Canton home games) on Sundays with rare exceptions.

It depends on the grade as all sessions consist of two different components: 1) Skills & Drills, and 2) Fun & Games.

The former focuses entirely on developing fundamental skills. The content of the latter changes by grade, gradually building up to "real games" with refs, clocks, etc. towards the end of 3rd grade.

When Does the Season End? The regular season runs through the end of February, followed by playoffs through mid-March (all teams make the playoffs).

Final sessions are typically in March, but not always the same date for all groups if gym availability varied for some during the season
Where Do We Play? All 6 home games are played in Canton.  The 6 away game locations vary for each team. Almost all away games are within 30 minutes drive from Canton. All sessions are held in Canton gyms unless extenuating circumstances arise.  (Click here for gyms.)

How Much Does it Cost?

$350 (plus $60 uniform, if needed)

Multiplayer discounts are offered for Travel.

$80-$120 depending on the grade. Travel players pay a discounted rate of $40.

Do You Offer Refunds? No, but may be considered if a player suffers a season-ending illness/injury or moves out of Canton.

Players who do not make Travel team rosters receive a full refund (excluding late registration fees).
No, with few exceptions......there is a window between when timeslot is announced and season starts that you may request a refund.....a refund may be considered if a player suffers a season-ending illness/injury or moves out of Canton.
Can I Be A Coach? We're always looking for good volunteers!  Please register as a coach volunteer so we can first collect some of your basic information and also run the required CORI check.

Due to the more competitive nature of Travel Basketball, coaching candidates are reviewed by the CYBA Board of Directors and selected based on a wide variety of factors.  Therefore, not all volunteers for coaches will be given head or assistant coaching assignments.
